The Jeffrey Fashion Cares Auction Launches Tomorrow
Starting tomorrow at 12PM EST, you can bid on a number of fashionable items for a good cause. Jeffrey Fashion Cares, the annual fashion fundraiser benefiting the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community and those living with HIV/AIDS, has partnered with GavelandGrand.com for an exclusive online auction. Featuring fashion items like the gorgeous Lulu Frost 'Big Bang' necklace (above), and bags from Tory Burch, Narciso Rodriguez, Tod's, and more, plus amazing travel, food, entertainment, and art, the lot is proving to have something for anyone. Other participating designers to look out for are: Balenciaga, Jason Wu, Jennifer Fisher, Alexander Wang, Eddie Borgo. The auction ends on April 8 in a culmination of an event hosted at the 69th Regiment Armory in NYC hosted by Jeffrey Kalinsky, president & CEO of Jeffrey New York/Atlanta & vice president and designer fashion director of Nordstrom.

No Words to Describe Moda Operandi's Emoticon Accessories
I've been a little worried about emojis eclipsing real words for a few months now, but since I'm known to be a little paranoid, I've kept my mouth shut. As an avid iPhone user, I pride myself on my ability to string together tiny images into perfect Instagram captions. I can even express myself in full sentences via text by using no words at all (clinking beer glasses, girl with hands over her head, explosion!). The fewer words the better, if you ask me. Edie Parker Clutches Make the Best Conversation Starters
Brett Heyman has had many fashion lives. She worked previously at Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, and most recently as Gucci’s PR Director before she got the urge to go off on her own to create Edie Parker, the conversational acrylic clutches we constantly see on street style stars (Leandra Medine has one that reads ‘Repeller’) and celebrities (like Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’O) alike.
We’re in love with Heyman’s clutches, whether bespoke or off the shelf, and couldn’t wait to chat with her about her spring inspirations, her own personal style, and the question on everyone’s mind: What's the craziest thing she’s ever been asked to print on a clutch?

Tell us about your inspiration for your spring collection. I’ve noticed there are tons of sunny icons!
I grew up in Los Angeles and have always been influenced by surf culture. Each piece in the collection represents an element of a perfect beach day. I love the unexpected pairing of a classic evening shape fabricated like a surfboard.
How do you decide on the theme of your collection?
It is usually influenced by a combination of great images or great works of art: Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg in matching silver metallic; Veruschka in tiger stripes strapped to the front of a car like a hunted animal. And currently I’m obsessing over the geometric brilliance of Kenneth Noland, John Grotjahn, and Theo van Doesburg, and the words of Doug Aitken and Tracey Emin.
You're known for making personalized, bespoke clutches. Have you ever gotten a wild request?
We do get some funny requests. But that is the point! Picking a word that describes you or makes you smile. We’ve gotten requests for "Cookie," "Hot," and, my personal favorite, "Divorced."
Do you remember the first bag you personalized?
Of course. The first one said ‘Lizzie’ and I gave it to Lizzie Tisch for her 40th birthday.
Do you have an everyday bag that you're obsessing over? After all, clutches can’t hold everything!
I am fairly loyal with my day bags because I find them annoying to change. I am usually carrying the reversible Hermès shopper or my very old black Balenciaga motorcycle bag. If I feel inspired to change I grab one of my studded Sonia Rykiel bags.
A lot of your business is about personality and personal style. What are some tips you would give to a woman trying to find her own style?
Take risks but don’t be a victim to trends. And always wear clothes, don’t let them wear you.
What’s your favorite clutch from the Spring '14 collection?
I am most excited to wear the rainbow stripe bag and the sharks. The rainbow goes with everything and is so joyful. The sharks are a real conversation piece and because one shark is done in silver confetti it can be worn casually and dressy.
